Visiting ICE this year in Amsterdam was more than just an industry event—it was a powerful reminder of the connections that drive yachting forward. Reuniting with colleagues from across the globe and meeting new faces was energizing, but one insight from the event resonated above all: ICE is rapidly becoming the bridge between two distinct yet interconnected worlds—the bareboat charter agencies and the superyacht sector.

Two Worlds, One Industry
While bareboat charters and superyachts might appear to operate in parallel, the reality is far more nuanced. Both sectors routinely receive inquiries intended for the other, creating a unique overlap. However, many agents find themselves hesitant when stepping outside their core specialization, often unsure which platforms, systems, or even terminology are standard in the other segment.
Different workflows: From booking systems to client expectations, operational models can vary dramatically.
Platform confusion: With no universal system, agents may struggle to navigate unfamiliar territory.
Distinct vocabulary: Even common terms can carry different meanings depending on which side of the industry you’re on.
Managing the Middle Ground
At Daymark Marine, we represent a fleet that sits precisely at this intersection—like the Sunreef 60s and Prestige M48. Successfully managing such yachts requires a deep understanding of both bareboat and superyacht mindsets, as well as the flexibility to adapt operationally to either world.
The Value of Connection
ICE’s role in bringing these sectors together cannot be overstated. The event fosters clarity, mutual respect, and more effective collaboration, helping agents and owners alike bridge gaps in knowledge and practice.
Hats Off to the Organisers
Kudos to the ICE organisers for creating an environment where industry professionals can learn from each other, share best practices, and collectively move towards a more unified yachting landscape.
Looking Forward
As the industry continues to evolve, I’m eager to support the ongoing merging of these sectors and contribute to a more informed, collaborative, and client-focused future.
